What Dots does
A Dot is a GPT-6 Astra agent with its own cloud computer, connected apps, and memory. Give it a destination and some guardrails; it can keep moving between chats and bring work back for review. Think “assistant with a night shift,” not “magic that never needs checking.” OpenAI Help Center
What using Dots looks like
Set one up on desktop, then check In progress, Scheduled, or Completed to see what it’s doing. You can schedule recurring checks and continue in the mobile app if your account has access. The dashboard shows activity; you still review the work yourself.
What you will pay
The first Dot is included with eligible plans. In the US, Pro costs $100 or $200 a month; Business Premium pricing depends on the workspace. Extra Dots have no announced price yet. “Included” means no extra Dot fee, not a free Pro subscription hiding under the couch.
How much work can a Dot do?
There’s an allowance for deeper work, temporarily extended in month one. OpenAI hasn’t posted a task count or later limit, so a cost-per-task calculator would just be wearing a tie over a guess.
What a Dot can access
A Dot can review connected apps and save context to memory. Your computer stays out of bounds unless you switch access on. Action rules set the speed bumps: act, follow a pre-approved request, ask first, or hand the task back. Still check important work; “the bot said so” is not a quality-control system.
What happens when you disconnect an app
Disconnecting stops future access; it does not erase information already used in chats or saved memories. Reset deletes the Dot’s conversations, memories, and scheduled tasks.
